UW-Madison is implementing an optional disruption grading option for students for the spring 2021 semester. If an undergraduate earns a C or higher, and opts into the disruption grading option, their grade will be converted to SD; if a student earns a D or F in a course, and opts into the disruption grading option, their grade will be converted to a UD. After receiving final grades, starting May 8, undergraduates may choose to convert their letter grade in any course to either: SD (Satisfactory-Disruption) or UD (University Disruption-No Credit).
The SD grade will count for all University General Education, degree/major, and certificate requirements and will satisfy future course prerequisites. The UD will not count for any credit. Neither of the new grades will be included in GPA calculations.Academics Corner.
