SD/UD Disruption Grading for Spring 2021
UW-Madison is implementing a special grading option for spring 2021. For now, you do not need to take any action. With this grading option, you will have the option to replace the grade that you receive in any eligible spring 2021 course with one of the following alternative grades: SD (Satisfactory-Disruption) or UD (University Disruption-No Credit). You will be able to choose your grading option after you see your final grades. For those of you who were enrolled in courses last spring 2020, this grading option will be very similar to the grading option offered at that time.
UW-Madison is making this change because it recognizes that the COVID-19 pandemic has had an ongoing and cumulative impact on you in many different ways. The campus is particularly aware of the added challenges posed by the cancellation of the regular week-long spring break this semester. We appreciate the dedication and diligence you have shown and hope that this option will provide some additional peace of mind.
More information and resources, including detailed FAQs and instructions for how to elect SD/UD, will be shared soon to help guide your decisions. As you begin to consider this opportunity with the resources coming soon, it is important that you weigh this decision carefully, and please consult with your academic advisor.
