- Info Session: Funding Study Abroad- Gilman Scholarship
On Thursday, February 25th from 4 pm – 5 pm, join Susan Lochner Atkinson, Associate Director for Advising at International Academic Programs, and Jedelyn Martinez, Gilman recipient, for a discussion on how to fund study abroad with a special focus on the Gilman Scholarship. The Gilman Scholarship broadens the student population that studies and interns abroad by supporting undergraduates who might not otherwise participate due to financial constraints.
Jedelyn is a proud first-generation Afro-Latina and Milwaukee native. Jeydelyn was awarded the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship in 2015 to study in Madrid, Spain. Significantly impacted by her Gilman study abroad semester following graduation from Marquette University in 2016, Jeydelyn returned to Spain to live and work for three years as an English teaching assistant in public schools and later as an ESL educator in Shenzhen, China. Jeydelyn is now back stateside working for her alma mater supporting students who are part of the TRIO program, Student Support Services, and is a Gilman Alumni Ambassador for the 2020-2021 academic year.
