CALS Student Organization Spotlight: Campus Food Shed
Campus Food Shed (CFS) aims to combat both food waste and food insecurity. We are driven by the fundamental belief that no student on campus should be hungry or without produce simply because they cannot afford it. CFS recovers excess produce from all levels: produce from agricultural fields and direct-to-consumer farmers markets as well as delicious and healthy grocery store produce wasted due to blemishes or arbitrary sell-by dates that deem food no longer “sellable.”
During normal, pandemic-less semesters, we stock our community fridge in the Student Activity Center daily! Follow us on social media (campusfoodshed) to receive updates about involvement opportunities and food handout information. You can also find more information on our website or reaching out by email at uwfoodshed_hort@wisc.edu.
