As part of this three-week summer program, you will learn about the opportunities and barriers to health and wellness in both rural and urban Nepal as well as local efforts to improve health and well-being. You will learn about how inequity, poverty, education and political instability affect global health. In addition, you will explore the Kathmandu Valley and visit important local and international organizations working towards improving health in Nepal.
Aside from this, there will be cultural site visits incorporated, including visits to attractions such as temples and historic villages. An important note about this program is that there is a trekking component in the hills of the Himalayas and a homestay in a rural village for a portion of the program.
This program is approved as a field experience for the Certificate in Global Health, although students of all majors and certificates are welcome.
