In Need of Food Assistance? Badger FARE Program, Campus Food Shed, and Open Seat Food Pantry Can Help
If you find yourself dealing with temporary or ongoing food insecurity, not having enough to eat (having to skip meals) and not having access to a nutritional and varied diet, there are 3 campus opportunities to explore.
BADGER FARE PROGRAM
Funds are available through the Dean of Students Office in collaboration with the Division of Continuing Studies. Granted funds are distributed directly to your Wiscard for immediate use. More information about this opportunity can be found at Badger FARE Program.
CAMPUS FOOD SHED
The Campus Food Shed is an organization that was created in 2017 by students for students. Currently, there is one active fridge on campus (East Campus Mall) with fresh produce intended for anyone in the college community. Use the link Campus Food Shed to “Find a Fridge” locations and hours.
OPEN SEAT FOOD PANTRY
The Open Seat UW Student Food Pantry supplies any UW-Madison student in need with free boxes of food packed and distributed by Second Harvest Foodbank. These boxes come in 10-15 lb sizes. Options vary weekly but various quantities of produce, dairy, and dry goods are typically available. You are asked to complete a form using a link found on their website: Open Seat
