The World Dairy Expo is an annual event that showcases dairy cattle and new technologies in the dairy industry. This five day event is held at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, WI and is joined by approximately 70,000 people from 100 countries, making it the largest dairy cattle show in North America. The Expo consists of cattle show competitions, dairy focused trade shows, and national judging contests for high school FFA chapters and 4-H programs.
CALS participates in the World Dairy Expo every year to promote our 4-year degree programs, the Wisconsin Youth Institute, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. We are a popular stop for FFA and 4-H students, UW-Madison alumni, and companies seeking UW students to hire upon graduation. The Farm & Industry Short Course (FISC) program, the School of Veterinary Medicine, and the Dairy Science Department also attends the Expo to promote their programs.
CALS Ambassador Helen Wang, a junior in Genetics, volunteered at the CALS booth to help promote CALS and share her student experience. This article was posted in A Message from the Dean.
