For more than two-decades, Dr. Ilse Köhler-Rollefson has utilized her background in veterinary medicine and archaeozoology to support socially responsible and ecologically sustainable livestock development. In particular, she has focused much of her work on camels, authoring the book, Camel Karma: twenty years among India’s camel nomads and starting the social enterprise, Camel Charisma. Currently, Dr. Köhler-Rollefson serves as Projects Coordinator for the League for Pastoral Peoples and Endogenous Livestock Development, where she works with the Raika camel pastoralists in India on issues such as Livestock Keepers’ Rights, and biocultural community controls.This article was posted in Career & Professional Development.
