The CALS Honors Program allows talented and highly motivated students to continue challenging themselves in the classroom and beyond. The objective of the Honors Program is to help students develop critical thinking and problem solving abilities through specialized courses and to provide students the challenge of designing, conducting, and reporting research in collaboration with faculty from our world-renowned research institution. Students can pursue either Honors in Research or Honors in the Major (select majors). Students who successfully complete either path will receive an Honors designation on their diploma.
- Interested in or already conducting research?
- Enrolled in Biocore or other course work for honors?
- Willing to challenge yourself for an enriching and transformative academic experience?
If you answered yes to any of the above, the CALS Honors Program may be for you! Learn more online or by attending an information session hosted by the CALS Health and Research Society on Thursday, October 5 at 6:00 p.m. in room 4210 Student Activities Center, 333 E Campus Mall. The info session will conclude with advice on how to get involved in research on campus.
Jamee Schoephoerster is a current CALS Honors in Research student that had this to say about her Honors experience:
“I chose to pursue honors in research because I want to become a part of the scientific
community. Honors in Research allowed me to improve my critical thinking and problem
solving skills through its requirements. Graduating with honors acknowledges the time and
work I have put into my field. It is rewarding to be the first one to see results from our
studies and know that they will advance the knowledge in my field.”
